“Personal libraries and collection materials donated to the Library of the Centre for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia (1984-2022)”, compiled by Fereshteh Mujāverī under the supervision of Sayyid ʿAlī Āl-e Davūd was published in two volumes by the Center for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia (Center for Iranian and Islamic Studies).

CGIE: “Personal libraries and collection materials donated to the Library of the Centre for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia (1984-2022)”, compiled by Fereshteh Mujāverī under the supervision of Sayyid ʿAlī Āl-e Davūd was published in two volumes by the Center for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia (Center for Iranian and Islamic Studies).

CGIE Library was the first unit created simultaneously with the foundation of the Centre for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia in 1984. It is today one of the largest reference libraries in Iran, which houses numerous manuscripts, lithograph books and even books produced by the printing press, many of them are considered unique or rare.

Over the course of nearly forty years, 173 personal libraries and collection materials in different branches of science have been donated to the CGIE Library by renowned scholars and prominent scientists for the most part, most of whom have transferred their books to this library in their lifetime. Hence it can be rightly claimed to be the only library in Iran which has received such a considerable number of donations.

Sultan ʿAlī Sultanī (known as Sheikh al-Islām Behbahani), Professor Iraj Afshār, Dr. Ṣādiq Kīyā, Dr. Hūshang Kāvūsī, Professor Fatḥullah Mojtabāyī, Dr. Enayatollah Reza, Dr. Jawād Ḥadīdī, Dr. ʿAbdul-Ḥussain Zarrīn Kūb, Dr. Manūchihr Murtaḍawī, Dr. Bahrām Farahvashī, Dr. Ismāʿīl Yazdī, the late Ghulam-ʿAlī Tawassuṭī, and Professor Richard Bulliet (a famous orientalist) are some of the great scholars who have donated their personal libraries and collection materials to the CGIE Library. A full list of the donors is obviously beyond the scope of this short text and the enthusiasts may refer to this two-volume publication for a comprehensive one.
